Cyn cychwyn cawsom gyflwyniad byr am hanes y sgwner gan Debbie Wareham o Amgueddfa Forol Ships\u2019 Timbers. Roedd hyn yn ddilyniant i\u2019r sgwrs\u00a0 a roddodd i\u2019r Gr\u0175p Hanes ym mis Mai.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Llong hwyliau oedd y <em>Flying Foam,<\/em> yn dibynnu\u2019n llwyr ar y gwynt a medr morwrol y llongwyr. Nid oedd iddi\u00a0 beiriant o fath yn y byd i\u2019w chynorthwyo. Fe\u2019i hadeiladwyd yn St Malo, Ffrainc ym1861 ac yn ystod ei gyrfa o 85 mlynedd, cafodd ei chyfran deg o anffawd wrth iddi gludo glo yn bennaf ar hyd arfordiroedd M\u00f4r y Gogledd a M\u00f4r Iwerddon.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mae Mr Tom Parry o Landudno wedi archwilio\u2019r hanes hefyd a dyma ddyfyniad o erthygl a ysgrifennwyd ganddo i\u2019r Pentan rhai blynyddoedd yn \u00f4l am dranc y llong ar ei thaith olaf o Lerpwl i Plymouth ar 21ain Ionawr 1936 yn cludo ei llwyth arferol o lo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOherwydd y storm ar y noson honno, bu\u2019n rhaid iddi gysgodi ger Ynys M\u00f4n. Rhwygwyd un o\u2019r hwyliau ac fe angorwyd y llong \u00e2 dau angor rhwng Ynys Seiriol a Phenmaenmawr er mwyn atgyweirio\u2019r difrod. Gwaethygodd y tywydd, torrodd rhaffau&#8217;r angorau ac ysgubwyd y llong o flaen y gwynt i Fae Conwy. Llwyddodd bad achub Biwmares i gael pawb oddi ar ei bwrdd yn ddiogel &#8211; sef\u00a0 Capten Jackson, ei wraig, pedwar llongwr, peiriannydd a chath a chathod bach!<\/p>\n<p>Gyrrwyd y llong ddi-griw o flaen y gwynt a\u2019r tonnau at draeth Penmorfa lle syrthiodd ar ei hochr ac ni hwyliodd i unman byth wedyn. Yn yr howld roedd dau gan dunnell o lo a phrynwyd hwn gan fasnachwr lleol, Owen Thomas. Yna dechreuodd y gwaith o \u2018ysgafnu\u2019r cargo&#8217; a chludo\u2019r glo i iard Owen Thomas yn Charlton Street. Defnyddiwyd ceffylau a throliau, a thractor ag \u00f4l-gerbyd at y gwaith. Gan fod yr hen long gryn bellter o\u2019r lan, dim ond ar lanw isel oedd modd ei chyrraedd. Cyfnod digon llwm ar lawer o drigolion Llandudno oedd gaeaf 1936 ac edrychai llawer ar y digwyddiad fel cyfle rhagluniaethol i ategu eu cyflenwad glo dros y tywydd oer. Gwnaed cyfraniad sylweddol i l\u00ean gwerin yr ardal gyda llawer o straeon, am \u2018wagio\u2019r llong lo\u2019 yn cael eu hail adrodd yn yr ardal am flynyddoedd lawer! Yn sicr ddigon ni chafodd Mr Owen Thomas y glo i gyd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Roedd Debbie wedi paratoi cystadleuaeth fach ar ein cyfer er mwyn i ni geisio darganfod rhai o\u2019r nodweddion oedd yn dal i fod ar sgerbwd y llong.
