Mae Adrian wedi rhoi cyflwyniadau i\u2019n Gr\u0175p ar sawl achlysur yn y gorffennol ac ni chawsom ein siomi o wrando ar ganlyniadau ei ymchwil diweddaraf. Deallwn fydd hwn ar gael mewn llyfr yn y dyfodol agos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mae’r ardal o amgylch Deganwy a Chonwy yn frith o dystiolaeth o wrthdaro rhwng gwahanol grwpiau o ormeswyr ar hyd yr oesoedd, os ydych chi’n gwybod sut i ddehongli’r canfyddiadau hyn. Mae’n debyg bod y dystiolaeth gynharaf yn dod o gyfnod yr Oes Haearn, sef Caer Seion ar gopa Mynydd y Dref. Mae adeiladu’r gaer wreiddiol yn anhysbys, ond mae gwaith cloddio wedi datgelu tystiolaeth o bobl yn byw yna mor gynnar \u00e2’r 6<\/span>ed<\/span><\/sup> ganrif CC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yn agosaf at adref mae gennym ein Castell Deganwy, a fu\u2019n destun nifer o drafodaethau gan y gr\u0175p yn y blynyddoedd diwethaf. Dros y canrifoedd, fe godwyd sawl adeiladwaith ar y safle. I ddechrau<\/span>,<\/span> dim ond rhagfuriau pren a ffosydd (10<\/span>fed<\/span><\/sup> ganrif) ac yna waliau cerrig a thyrau mwy sylweddol (13<\/span>eg<\/span><\/sup> ganrif) gan Dywysog Cymru<\/span>,<\/span> Llywelyn ab Iorwerth. Oherwydd ei leoliad, meddiannwyd y Fardre ers cyfnod y Rhufeiniaid gan nifer o benaethiaid, o Faelgwn Gwynedd ac i Dywysogion Gwynedd. Mae llawer o’r gwaith carreg sydd ar \u00f4l heddiw naill ai o gyfnod ailadeiladu Llywelyn ym 1213 tra bod y t\u0175r crwn yn dyddio o gyfnod Harri III.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rhwng 1283 a 1330 adeiladodd y Brenin Edward 1 gadwyn o gestyll o Ruddlan, Conwy, Caernarfon a Biwmares fel rhan o\u2019i ddarostyngiad o\u2019r Cymry cynhenid. Gadawyd Castell Deganwy yn adfeilion ac mae’n debyg bod peth o’r gwaith carreg wedi’i ddefnyddio wrth adeiladu Castell Conwy a muriau’r dref ar draws yr aber.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yn ystod y Rhyfel Cartref, 1642 i 1651, bu Conwy yn rhan o ymgyrch unwaith eto, yn cael ei warchae a’i beledu gan ganon o safle ger y Gyffin. Roedd hyn yn destun sgwrs flaenorol gan Dennis Roberts ar 20<\/span>fed<\/span><\/sup> Gorffennaf 2017 (gweler ein Harchif Sgyrsiau am fanylion).<\/span><\/p>\n

Roedd Morfa Conwy yn lleoliad ar gyfer gwersylloedd hyfforddi haf blynyddol i\u2019r Fyddin Diriogaethol yn ail hanner y 19<\/span>eg<\/span><\/sup> ganrif. Yn ystod y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf hyfforddwyd sawl catrawd yma ar y meysydd tanio a chynhaliwyd ymarferion corfforol ar Fynydd y Dref uwchben Conwy ac ar Ben y Gogarth gerllaw.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yn ddiweddarach, yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd, cafodd gweithwyr lletya yn yr ardal i weithio, yn hollol gyfrinachol, ar adeiladu prototeip o Harbwr Mulberry. Pan gwblhawyd y gwaith, roedd y Cynghreiriaid yn gallu creu \u201cporthladd\u201d yn Normandi i hwyluso dadlwytho milwyr, arfwisgoedd a chyflenwadau yn gyflym pan oedd porthladdoedd Ffrengig yn cael eu dinistrio gan yr Almaenwyr. Mae nifer o Gaissonau Harbwr Mulberry yn dal i fodoli heddiw yn Normandi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mae gan drigolion Deganwy a Chonwy gysylltiad balch gyda gwahanol sefydliadau milwrol, llawer ohonynt wedi gwasanaethu yn y lluoedd arfog ar ryw adeg yn eu bywydau. Rydym yn ddiolchgar i Adrian am ei waith yn y maes hwn ac am ein hatgoffa o’r ymrwymiad a ddangoswyd gan bobl leol ar adegau o wrthdaro, wrth iddynt wasanaethu eu gwlad. Dymunwn yn dda iddo wrth ryddhau ei lyfr newydd a fydd yn cynnwys mwy o fanylion am Hanes Milwrol Conwy.<\/span><\/p>\n
