Am 11am, ar fore hynod o heulog, daeth tua 60 o aelodau\u2019r gymuned leol a\u2019r ardal ehangach i\u2019r gwasanaeth. Atgoffwyd ni gan y Cynghorydd Mike Priestley am y Gwasanaeth Coffa 70 Mlynedd, a gychwynnwyd gan Gwyn Hughes a&#8217;r gwaith ymchwil manwl a wnaed ganddo. Disgrifiodd sut y cysylltodd John Harris o Hastings ag ef rai blynyddoedd yn \u00f4l. Roedd John yn ddisgybl yn Ysgol Woodlands ac wedi gweld y ddamwain pan oedd yn ddim ond 13 oed. Dywedodd Gwyn wrthym sut yr oedd wedi mynd \u00e2 John i weld lleoliad y ddamwain. Roedd John wedi rhoi iddo gopi o lythyr a ysgrifennwyd ganddo at ei rieni ar 20fed Chwefror 1944. Darllenodd Gwyn y llythyr, sy\u2019n disgrifio\u2019r awyren yn nes\u00e1u at y cae chwarae lle\u2019r oedd disgyblion yn chwarae rygbi: \u2018<em>with little bits falling off the wings, it turned round and started to spin and it was coming straight for the games, the pilot must have seen us because the plane turned again and crashed in a field next to the school.
