Scrapbook material from Gary Roberts , Crown Green Champion from Deganwy .

A local lad from our village Deganwy , Gary has outstanding abilities not only in bowls but many other sports. He was introduced to Crown Green bowling at Deganwy by fellow classmates Allan Eccles and Ken Jones at just 13, but soon proved to be a winner, being very competitive and mentally strong ,his family upbringing had set a good example showing a unique sporting attitude and courtesy, to more experienced players of this era in both on and off the green .

Gary began life, brought up and schooled in Deganwy, being the youngest of a fairly large family. A proud son to Bernard and Lilian Roberts and a brother to Pat, Rita, Peter, Raymond and Billy .

Gary , in my interview he was as I have always known him,bright,cheerful and welcoming and on odd occasions cracking a joke or two , or three or maybe a few thousand……..he wanted me to give a special mention to his close family, being happily married to his lovely wife Anne and a proud father to Paula and Lee who have always been a great support to him .
